From Wednesday November 20, 2024, Lorraine is preparing to enter winter early. The weather forecasts predict a drop in temperatures, with a few snowflakes. During the night from Wednesday to Thursday, Météo France announced temperatures in the region around zero degrees.

The summits of the Vosges could receive an accumulation of snow of a few centimeters, while in the plains, a thin layer could also form.

Climatic conditions will be marked by temperatures below seasonal norms, accompanied by risks of frost throughout the week. It is therefore imperative to remain vigilant on the roads, as slippery phenomena could occur, making traffic difficult.

Due to these degraded driving conditions, the prefectures activated their winter service plan on Monday, November 18. Some roads could be closed until March 10. The authorities remind you that in cold weather, it is important to use windshield washer fluid with an antifreeze product. She advises checking the correct functioning of the battery as well as the ignition, power, defrosting and heating systems. It is also advisable to reduce your speed in the event of frost or icy conditions.

The Vosges department is one of the mountainous areas affected by the obligation to be equipped with snow chains or winter tires. Furthermore, the Route des Crêtes has already been closed to traffic since November 15.
