“For more than fifteen years, we have been alerting the public authorities about the deterioration of the early childhood sector, but nothing is happening,” deplores Françoise Eber Muller, co-president of the National Federation of Educators of Young Children of Indre-et-Loire.

The release of several books on the conditions of care for young children and the report from the General Inspectorate of Social Affairs (April 2023) which called for reforms in the early childhood sector have aroused the anger of professionals.

“We are asking the State to defend an extra-vulnerable public. We are calling for an ambitious policy to support families, says Françoise Eber Muller. We can clearly see that poverty and psychological problems in families have repercussions on children. »

Parents expected

The trainer at the Institute of Social Work denounces the practice of “overbooking” in private structures – “They take more children than they should” – for the sake of profitability. “Even the public gets involved. We must arm our professionals to reaffirm the values ​​of our profession in the face of elected officials who do not always understand the issues. »

The No baby at the deposit collective is calling for salary increases to remedy the lack of attractiveness of the profession and “emergency training for 15,000 professionals per year over five years”. Their objective: to achieve a supervision rate of one professional for every five children in 2027 and stop resorting to “staff without any qualifications or experience”.

Tuesday, in front of the prefecture of , professionals from Tours will mobilize, as well as parents. “We are counting on their presence, they are the ones who can influence politicians. »
