The Lions continue to pace the NFC North with their gritty efforts. Since losing to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 2, the team has managed to come away with wins week after week. Sometimes, they blow out their opponents; other weeks, they narrowly come out on top. That was the case on Sunday Night Football last week, when, despite Jared Goff throwing five interceptions, the Lions rallied from a 16-point deficit, on the road, against the Houston Texans, using two clutch field goals from Jake Bates to pull out a 26-23 win.
The Lions are first in the NFC North, just one game ahead of the Minnesota Vikings.
The Jaguars were expected to be similar to the Lions, at least in the fact that they would be challenging for a division title. However, things have not gone their way at all this season. Starting off by losing each of their first four games didn’t help their cause, and Trevor Lawrence going down with a shoulder injury two weeks ago certainly hindered their already struggling offense, leading to a 12-7 defeat at the hands of the Vikings last Sunday. While they are not technically out of it yet, time is running out on Jacksonville.
The Jags have the worst record in the AFC, three games out of a playoff spot.
The Lions are 5-3 against the Jaguars.
