Stefan Bradl also bids farewell to MotoGP in Barcelona: ‘I think this is my last wildcard’

Stefan Bradl is seemingly making his MotoGP farewell at the Solidarity GP of Barcelona. Honda will have Aleix Espargaró and Takaaki Nakagami as test riders in 2025, and although Bradl will remain with the team, he is likely to not making wildcard appearances, given the better preparation of the Spanish and Japanese riders – who will retire from full-time racing at the end of this season.

Speaking on Saturday, the German rider shared: ‘I think this is my last wildcard here. I’m sure that for the future they will choose Aleix and Taka – which I’m fine with, and I also told them that I’m totally fine with that. They seem to have a little bit more speed, because they are still permanent riders. So, maybe they can squeeze a little bit more out of the bike. But that’s not our target. But in any case, I think that we will do six wildcards next season, and done by Aleix and Taka’.

When asked if this means he is racing in his final GP, Bradl confirmed: ‘I think so. I came here with these thoughts, and I communicated to HRC [Honda Racing Corporation] like this, and I’m okay with it, I’m happy with it’.

Regarding the emotions of what is likely his last appearance in the paddock, the #6 commented: ‘Not weird. I’m here for a long time, I know how to handle this kind of situations, and it’s okay. Nineteen ago I did my first wildcard here in Barcelona in 125cc, and now I’m probably doing my last race in MotoGP. It’s a circle closing, so we can close it and it will be fine’.
