What does the Christmas period mean to you?
“It’s a period that I really like. That’s why I wanted to be able to continue it with people through my albums. I wanted to establish and perpetuate the magic of Christmas through these songs. For me, Christmas is about family and a time of rest where you can enjoy your loved ones. We live in a world where performance is so important that we always feel obliged to do something. We never stop. But, at Christmas, we slow down and it feels good.“
Do you have a family tradition for Christmas?
“Every year, we buy our new “family ball”. When we decorate the tree, we remember beautiful memories. One reminds us of our vacation in this or that place, the other, another precious moment. We hold on to this tradition!“
A few months ago, you won the 13th season of Dancing with the stars on TF1. Since this experience, do you approach the stage in a different way?
“I no longer inhabit the stage in the same way. With yoga, I learned a lot about my body. But, it was all about introspection unlike dance where we express ourselves with the body. Before, when I sang, my body was on vacation. Since Dancing with the Stars, I feel like I’m including him in the equation.“
It’s been almost 25 years since you represented France at Eurovision. What memory do you keep of this adventure?
“A fond memory. It was my debut. I didn’t realize what I was doing. I thought after that I was going to go back to nursing school. And, ultimately, life had a completely different surprise in store for me.“
Do you think the Eurovision Song Contest is too politicized today?
“We said the same thing 25 years ago. At the time, it was the Eastern countries against the Latin countries. It’s always been a subject but once we get there, we singers don’t think about that. We are living a beautiful moment.“
Natasha St-Pier reacts to the parody of “Tu Tandias” sung by Inès Reg: “I’m not going to make a song for her on my side”
On TV film sets
Natasha St-Pier has several projects in the works. While she has just reissued her Christmas album, the singer is already working on another album which will arrive sometime in 2025. This one bears the title of Barbara’s song My most beautiful love story is you. “It’s an album where we will find the great successes of French song which built me as a performer and which made me want to do this profession“, reveals Natasha St-Pier who is planning a new tour, this time in theaters.
Although she is accustomed to musical comedy, the singer recently took her first steps as an actress on television. In Léo Matteï and in Camping Paradis on TF1. “I’ve wanted to do comedy for a long time. Finally, I’m allowed to try. I’m delighted to be given a chance!“, she says. “You’re always greeted in a strange way on a film set when you’re known for something else. But here, I admit to having been very well received and well surrounded, both times. I would love to repeat the experience.“
Christmas tour by Natasha St-Pier accompanied by the children’s choir Les Petits Chanteurs à la Croix de Bois: November 23 in St Aubain Cathedral in Namur and November 24 at the Saint-Jacques Church in Liège.
