Charles III went this Wednesday, November 13 to the preview of Gladiator II in Leicester Square in the heart of London. An event he attended without his wife, Queen Camilla. There, the monarch walked the red carpet and took the time to greet the film's director Ridley Scott as well as the actors of the blockbuster Paul Mescal, Denzel Washington, Pedro Pascal, Connie Nielsen and Joseph Quinn. But, the actor of Equalizer appeared somewhat panicked as he waited to shake hands with Charles III. “I didn't know if I was supposed to hold your hand or not”, then stammered, looking nervous, the one who plays Macrinus in Gladiator IIas reported by Daily Mail this Thursday, November 14.
A meeting which obviously greatly amused the king who asked the actor what he thought of his role. “I'm just, you know, a horrible…” he seems to say before interrupting himself and adding : “I am a charming man, you will see. I am a charming man.” “I am a charming man and I do my best,” he repeated. As Charles III shook hands with Pedro Pascal, he complimented Denzel Washington, saying: “You’ve been in so many films, it’s fantastic.” “Thank you, thank you,” the actor then replied. A meeting that the latter will remember.

If Queen Camilla wasn't present on the film's red carpet Gladiator II, however, she made a surprise and quick appearance a few hours before the cinematic event. To celebrate the centenary of the Film and TV Charity, a reception was organized at Buckingham Palace to which the stars of the film were invited. Forced to cancel her royal engagements due to a lung infection, the monarch still made a furtive appearance to greet guests, as revealed The Independent. According to the British media, Queen Camilla who welcomed the director of Gladiator IIcoughed before shaking his hand and saying: “I'm so sorry I can't come to the premiere tonight. I would cough throughout the evening“.
