Damso, here on September 25, 2024 in Paris, releases an album of 11 tracks entitled “J'ai menti” this Friday, November 15.

MUSIC – His fans won't hold it against him. Damso was initially expected to return with BĒYĀHwhich he had announced on multiple occasions to be his last project, and whose release is still scheduled for May 30, 2025. But four years after his last album KALF, the Belgian rapper accelerated his return to the forefront with his new opus I lied, available this Friday, November 15.

However, in August 2023, at the end of his last festival, the artist told his audience to take a break to leave in a camper van and had indeed given him an appointment in 2025. But the request for a fan would have convinced the artist to make his return earlier than expected, thus giving his funny name to the project. “I called this album I lied because I said I was ending my career with the album BĒYĀHbut, in the meantime, a fan asked me for songs and so today I am releasing this album which was initially just supposed to be an EP (mini-album)”says the rapper in an interview with Parisian.

A return which also signals an overall improvement in the rapper's life. “Yes, I am better morally, mentally and physically”confides the one who “ questioned » following the deaths of loved ones and who decided to live for himself.

Damso says he has rediscovered the simple pleasures of life. “My goal is just to get better and feel good,” he assures, confident of finding therapy in music. “My microphone is my best friend. I built a relationship with him, a bit like a loved one to whom you can tell everything. […] It is the only response to my pain, to my sorrow or to my joy”also delivers the one who declares that he wants “lock up” his sorrows in his pieces.

Promise kept for BĒYĀH ?

Damso also returns to his relationship with Angèle, present on the album. The rapper and the singer have already collaborated on the titles Silence et Demonsrespectively from Lithopédion et Ninety-Five. The Belgians meet again on Give it alla duo “logical and super easy”, proof of a “true and beautiful friendship” for him. “ We wrote to each other again yesterday and we laughed a lot. We just had to meet. If it hadn't been during my first shows (during his Ipséité tour in 2017), it would have been elsewhere. he says.

A question burns on the lips of his fans: BĒYĀH will it truly be his final mark in the world of music? Nothing is less certain after this first lie that this album represents, I lied. “But for me BĒYĀH remains my last album. Stopping music would allow me to become a student again, to try other things, like design. But if I release an album called I liedI can do too I lied again (laughs) »concludes Damso.
