Gironde: a teacher targeted by death threats for the third time in a year: News

A teacher working in a high school in , in , received three letters of death threats over the last twelve months, reports Sud Ouest, Wednesday November 13. A new investigation has been opened.

Edifying facts which require the opening of an investigation. As revealed South WestWednesday November 13, a third death threat letter to the same teacher was found under the door of her classroom in the Jean Monnet high school in Libourne, in Gironde. The professor had already found a similar letter in December 2023 and then last September. A complaint was filed and a new investigation was opened and entrusted to the Libourne gendarmerie.

While the first two were openly racist, this one's comments are “less characterized“, explained the public prosecutor of Libourne to Bleu Gironde. The colleagues of the threatened teacher say they are shocked and “request that the teacher benefits from police protection”. A mobile security device has also been put in place by the rectorate from this Thursday, November 14 around the establishment. The mayor of Libourne, Philippe Buisson, condemned this new letter and announced that he had contacted the academic director.

“This has to stop”

For now, investigators are trying to determine whether the three letters were written by the same person. In December 2023, when the teacher was threatened for the first time, half of the teachers at the establishment exercised their right of withdrawal. After this new threatening missive, the tension is palpable within the Jean Monnet high school. “Can you imagine what state she might be in? It was in his classroom that the letter was found. Whoever put it there knew very well who it was addressed to. This has to stop. We are angry. It's disgusting“, castigates a representative of the high school CGT.
