Udupi: BJP state general secretary Sunil Kumar accused CM Siddaramaiah of sidelining the interests of scheduled castes (SC), scheduled tribes (ST), and other backward classes (OBC) in favour of appeasing minority communities, a stance that is widely recognised across Karnataka, he said.
On Wednesday, Kumar criticised the govt’s proposal to introduce a 4% quota for Muslims in public contracts for civil works, describing it as part of the Congress’s appeasement approach.
“During its last term, Congress celebrated Tipu Jayanti, and now they have allowed the Waqf Board to gain control over certain properties. This is a govt focused on the Muslim community, not an inclusive govt,” he alleged.
Kumar also expressed confidence that BJP would secure victories in the Channapatna, Shiggaon, and Sandur bypolls. He claimed that Siddaramaiah would vacate the CM seat after Nov 23. He speculated that internal conflicts within the Congress would soon come to light, potentially resulting in a new CM leading the next session of the state legislature.
On suspected Naxal activities, the former minister criticised the Congress govt for allegedly supporting ‘urban Naxals’, claiming their influence is possibly linked to the state’s stance on implementing the Kasturirangan Report. Regarding dissent from MLA Basangouda Patil Yatnal against BJP state president BY Vijayendra, Sunil Kumar said that he has no personal issues with Vijayendra and that minor differences could be resolved.
