A homeless man was killed with a concrete block in Lyon during the night from Sunday to Monday, November 11. A suspect suspected in other similar attacks has been arrested.
A man suspected of having killed a homeless person with blows from a concrete block in Lyon was arrested this Tuesday, November 12 in Toulon (Var), BFM Toulon Var learned from police sources, confirming information from Figaro a you Parisian.
• A homeless man beaten to death with a concrete block in Lyon
A homeless man of Moldovan nationality was killed during the night from Sunday to Monday, November 11 in the 2nd arrondissement of Lyon, near Place Carnot.
A bloody concrete block was discovered near his body and CCTV footage showed that an individual struck the victim in the head with this object. The Lyon public prosecutor's office then opened an investigation into murder.
• A suspect in police custody
A suspect was arrested in Toulon on the evening of Tuesday, November 12. The man attacked a 26-year-old woman on board a train traveling between Marseille and Nice. A controller notified the police who arrested him in Toulon.
A police officer from the Toulon emergency police then recognized the man wanted for the homicide of the homeless person in Lyon. According to the identity he presented, he is of Cameroonian nationality and under obligation to leave French territory (OQTF). He is still in police custody this Wednesday morning.
• Suspected of other attacks
In addition to the homicide of a homeless man in Lyon, the man is suspected of other attacks with a similar modus operandi: a fatal attack on a homeless person with a concrete block. He is the subject of an arrest warrant for intentional homicide in Évry (Essonne), suspicion of homicides in Strasbourg (Bas-Rhin) and Dijon (Côte d'Or), as well as for an attempted of homicide in Rotterdam in the Netherlands.
This latest attack dates back to the night of November 4 to 5 last year. A 37-year-old homeless man remains in hospital in a coma after being injured by a cinder block. CCTV images of the suspect were released by Dutch police.
