Locminé was undoubtedly not reassured, especially during a catastrophic start to the second half. But the main thing was indeed elsewhere with a qualification for this 8th round of the Coupe de France that Saint-Co will play at Le Mans in two weeks. Ronaldo Freitas' partners, however, gave themselves unnecessary scares even though they had the match well in hand. In numerical superiority from the 7th minute and the expulsion of the Sabolian captain Vardin for a high foot on Degan, the Morbihannais opened the scoring on the free kick which followed by Soufaché, whose magnificent curling shot found the inside of the post (1- 0.10').
Master of the game and giving the sensation of being able to create danger at any time with his Faussurier and Degan arrows, the Locminois also counted on his defenders to provide the surplus in attack. Belhaj was the perfect illustration of this since he was at the origin and the conclusion of his team's second goal after a relay with Bila (2-0, 42'). We then thought Locminé was on a royal road. But everything changed upon returning from the locker room. Much more conquering, Sablé wrapped up the match and immediately reduced the score through Nowa, surprisingly alone on a long cross from the left (2-1, 48'). Excited and carried by their noisy supporters, the Sarthois equalized a quarter of an hour later on a free kick from Monnier (2-2, 64').
The astonishment was total on the Locminois side and the fear of elimination arose. But Bila, already decisive at 2-0, liberated Saint-Co by taking a good serve from Freitas (3-2, 79'). Then at the end of the match after a lot of work from Degan (4-2, 88'). “We don't have the right to get trapped and take this goal at the start of the second. Afterwards, it turns into a cup match. We have to learn from our mistakes. But congratulations to the players for then succeeding in seeking qualification,” reacted Jacques Pichard, the Locminois coach.
