Sinner also beats Fritz and sees the semi-finals of the ATP Finals

Jannik Sinner (ATP 1) has booked a place in the semi-finals of the ATP Finals in Turin. The home idol in fact obtained his second victory in the Group named after Ilie Nastase by defeating Taylor Fritz (5) with the result of 6-4 6-4. To have the mathematical certainty of the 23-year-old from South Tyrol passing through to the round, it will be enough to win a set the day after tomorrow against Daniil Medvedev (4), who in the meantime has relaunched himself in a big way thanks to the 6-2 6-4 won by Alex de Minaur (9).

The rematch of the final of the last US Open did not disappoint the expectations of the Piedmontese public. Slightly out of breath in the first games, Sinner stepped up with his shots at the end of the first set: after missing 3 consecutive break points at 4-3, the world number one didn’t have to wait two games later, when he found himself on the racket the first set ball. Same exact script in the second set with the American conceding the serve in the decisive moment.

It’s a short step from “I don’t enjoy being on the pitch” to “turn off the noise”. Indeed very short when it comes to Medvedev who once again managed to get people talking for his over the top behaviour. At the end of the success over the Australian, the Russian celebrated by covering his ears and added to the matter shortly afterwards by writing “turn off the noise” as a dedication on the camera.
