Following his conviction in the case of his wife's fictitious employment, François Fillon proposed to the National Assembly the reimbursement of €700,000 in damages spread over 10 years. Information revealed this Tuesday November 12, 2024 by BFM and confirmed to France Info by François Fillon's lawyer, Me Antonin Levy.
€700,000 in damages over 10 years?
François Fillon was found guilty of embezzlement for his wife's fictitious employment but the new appeal trial, scheduled for Monday November 25, 2024, must examine the sentence to which he will be sentenced.
Among the court decisions recorded: the payment of €700,000 in damages to the National Assembly in solidarity with his wife, Penelope Fillon and his former deputy, Marc Joulaud.
An announcement a few days before a new trial
The announcement of this payment and installment proposal comes a few days before this new trial.
Coincidence of the calendar? Me Antonin Lévy told France Info that “the proposal was made several months ago”.
Discussions are reportedly underway with the National Assembly to approve or not this spread over 10 years.
