Koen Crucke sings to kick off a 6-day folk festival and cycling spectacle in ‘t Kuipke (Ghent)

“Take my kite. And his steers. He poured up. “It’s the sight of what you see.” The Ghent Six Days got off to a festive start on Tuesday evening with the unofficial Ghent national anthem, sung by Koen Crucke. This was followed by the official starting shot by sports councilor Sofie Bracke (Open VLD), Deputy Prime Minister Vincent Van Peteghem (CD&V) and ex-winner Kenny De Ketele.

The Six Days of Ghent is a combination of top sport and entertainment for six days, unique in its experience. Riders doing laps on the track and thousands of partygoers doing polonaises in the center square, drinking pints until the last laps and then getting stuck into the party atmosphere. Artists also come to perform every day.

Lindsay De Vylder and Robbe Ghys are the defending champions and top favorites and can write history with a new victory. They are challenged by the Olympic top duo Benjamin Thomas and Fabio Van den Bossche and the German European champions Roger Kluge and Theo Reinhardt. We will know the winner on Sunday. In addition, there is also a Future Six Days for young people, a two-day event for women and the G-athletes are also discussed again.
