It was announced and the snow did indeed appear this Tuesday, November 12, 2024 in the morning. Snow that delights lovers of winter resorts, but much less so motorists who experience hell on the road, particularly in the passes of the Southern Alps.
According to the roads service of the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence Departmental Council, the RD900, at the Col du Labouret towards the resorts of the Blanche valley (Montclar, Chabanon), experienced difficult traffic due to 'a snowy roadway.
A roadway which surprised a 57-year-old woman, around 9:30 a.m., at the Col de Maure, in Seyne-les-Alpes. Driving at low speed, however, the motorist slipped and suffered a slight neck injury.
At the same time, traffic proved to be just as complicated at the Larche and Vars passes, as well as on the roads to other lower Alpine resorts, such as Pra Loup, Super-Sauze or Sainte-Anne.
In the Hautes-Alpes, the situation is even more problematic for road users, and particularly in the north of the department with three passes closed by the Department: the Col d'Izoard since this Tuesday 9 a.m. and which should reopen this Wednesday 12 November at noon, as well as the Col Agnel and the access to the Haute-Vallée de la Clarée for its winter closure until May-June 2025. Finally, heavy goods vehicles saw access to the Col de Montgenèvre being prohibited to them .
