Ahold Delhaize USA, the parent company of both Shop & Shop and Hannaford grocery stores, warned that some pharmacy services and e-commerce operations were affected by a cybersecurity issue. Company officials said last week that they notified law enforcement, hired external cybersecurity experts and began an investigation “immediately upon detecting the issue.”As of Friday, several Hannaford locations in Maine were unable to accept payment by debit card or gift card. Hannaford’s website was unavailable all weekend and remains unavailable on Monday. In a statement available through the Stop & Shop website, which remains functional, Ahold Delhaize USA said steps taken to mitigate the issue include “taking some systems offline to help protect them.”Signage inside a Stop & Shop location in Revere on Monday warned shoppers that the technology outage could result in some product delivery delays. “We are working to restock our our shelves as quickly as possible,” the sign said. The company statement said stores remain open during this response.”We will continue to take actions to further protect our systems,” the statement said. “The security of our customers, associates and partners is a top priority. We apologize for any inconvenience this issue may have caused customers and partners.”
