Since this year, the Porma Drinking Water Treatment Station (Etap) managed by Aguas de León has a turbine to generate electrical energy in its facilities. Financed by the European Union, the new turbine has an investment of one million euros and thanks to it, León becomes a “reference in the EU for energy self-sufficiency and circular economy.”
These are some of the conclusions that were presented this Tuesday, November 26, within the framework of the launch of the 'Life Nexus: promoting the sustainability of the urban water cycle through mini-hydraulic generation' conference that has been developed at the facilities. of Aguas de León and where the turbine has been visited.
The mayor of León attended the event where he highlighted that the development of this program will mean “a qualitative leap in the management of the water supplied to the city of León.” In addition, it celebrates that this model “will be replicated in 30 different locations in the European Union” making the city of León a reference in the community.
