Alvarado does not silence her weapons on Armistice and wins in Niel

Super prestige Niel (women)

13:40 Niel

Ceylin Alvarado has booked her 4th victory of the season with the Jaarmarktcross in Niel. The Dutch woman quickly started flying and achieved a solid solo for her 3rd in a row in the Rupel region. “I wanted to get rid of it quickly,” she said. Lucinda Brand came 2nd, Norbert Riberolle defeated Casasola for the last podium spot in the Superprestigecross.

Ceylin del Carmen Alvarado has been the strongest in Niel over the past two years and this year was no different.

Inge van der Heijden and Laura Verdonschot were briefly in the lead, but the Dutch woman started her solo in the first lap. No one would see her again, Alvarado was flying.

Behind her there was a nice battle for second place. Lucinda Brand had to work up a sweat to hold off Sara Casasola.

The Italian champion raced along the Rupel with a lot of grins. Even a broken chain didn’t stop her.

Comebackkid Casasola

After a catch-up race, Casasola came to Brand’s door, who had suffered a puncture. With an ultimate acceleration in the last round, the Dutchman knocked the Italian champion to the canvas.

A hammer blow for Casasola, who also saw her teammate Marion Norbert Riberolle pass in the final straight line.

In the Superprestige rankings, Alvarado is now in first place with the same number of points as Brand. Casasola is third.

The fourth of eight heats is scheduled for next weekend on the grounds of De Kolonie in Merksplas.

Comments

Ceylin Alvarado (1e): “I wanted to make quick work of it, but I didn’t expect the gap to become so big so quickly. It gave me extra motivation.”

Lucinda Brand (2e): “Nothing to do in Ceylin today, I had to try to finish second. I didn’t have the legs from yesterday. Limiting the damage was the task today.”

Marion Norbert Riberolle (3e): “I always get off to a slow start. These types of races suit me much better than half-way races, such as the European Championships in Spain.”

Sara Casasola (4e): “That chain cost me a lot of strength. In the last round I lacked the power for the podium. Disappointing, because I felt strong and I like such tough competitions. I was looking forward to this.”
