A failed first half
A first goal from Montpellier in the 6th minute, a second in the 12th: with a remodeled eleven, Stade Brestois had never experienced such a start since the opening of the Ligue 1 championship. And that ultimately had nothing to do with it. illogical: guilty of a hand in his penalty area Abdoulaye Ndiaye offered a penalty to Arnaud Nordin who was quick to open the score and, six minutes later, it was Marco Bizot who was surprised by a vicious free kick (from almost 30 meters) from Wahbi Khazri.
Trailing 2-0 at the bottom, Stade Brestois was going to have a hard time getting its head above water: Pierre Lees-Melou (20'), Jordan Amavi (39) and Luck Zogbé (44') went, in turn , having the opportunity to reduce the gap but their shot was not on target. At half-time, the score could have even been higher, Akor Adams' goal (34th) being (logically) refused for offside.
Martin restores hope, Bizot maintains it
As soon as the restart, Stade Brestois came close to being penalized (alone in front of Bizot, Nordin shot over in the 48') before getting back into the match thanks to Jonas Martin who deflected a shot off target from Simah (2-1, 50' ). This rather fortunate reduction in the score paradoxically did not revive Eric Roy's men: Jordan Amavi mowed down Moussa Al Tamari in his area and offered a second penalty to Gasset's men. Nordin chose the same side as for the first but his (much) too soft shot was stopped by Marco Bizot who thus kept Finistère's hopes alive.
Three changes at once, very little change…
Brest did (again) well, which prompted Éric Roy to make three offensive changes an hour into the game. Jonas Martin, Ibrahim Salah and Romain Faivre were replaced respectively by Kamory Doumbia, Abdallah Sima and Romain Del Castillo. Coaching that came close to bearing fruit, ten minutes later: Del Castillo found Sima's head forcing Lecomte to make a catastrophic clearance (70'). N'Diaye also worried the opposing goalkeeper but Stade Brestois was still punished by a counter (roundly carried out) by Montpellier (Coulibaly, 84'). 3-1, final score.
A welcome truce
Beaten for the sixth time this season, physically blunted, Stade Brestois lost a place in the Ligue 1 ranking (12th) and will be able to breathe during the international break. His next match, Friday November 22, will take him to Monaco, the runner-up to PSG.
