Mathias Enard speaks with:
Badjensa novel of emancipation
“I died the day I was born” declares Badjens, the protagonist of the novel of the same name by Delphine Minou, published by Seuil. This coming-of-age novel takes place in Shiraz, far from Tehran. Through this young Iranian woman nicknamed Badjens, the novelist explores the movement.” Woman, Life, Liberty” and the way in which the brutal repression of the regime attacks women. This coming-of-age novel is an intimate story that is as close to the body and feelings as Delphine Minoui continues. : “it is about fully immersing oneself in the flesh (…) and touching the epidermis and the sensations“.
“Make the horse gallop in the other half of you”, the poetry of Atieh Attarzadeh
Published by Bruno Doucey and translated by Farideh Rava, I breathe under the stone is a collection in bilingual edition: Persian-French. Born to doctor parents and having walked the hospital corridors as a child, the poet and filmmaker Atieh Attarzadeh evokes poetry as a source of relief for inner pain. She extends her exploration: “this allows us to express the interior beyond the restrictions of the regime (…) and to rediscover history and our place in today's world “.
