Dwight McNeil is one of three Everton stars to undergo a fitness test ahead of the clash against West Ham United on Saturday, according to the Liverpool Echo.
The Merseyside news outlet reported on Thursday [7 November] via its website, that McNeil, Abdoulaye Docoure, and Iliman Ndiaye are facing a race against time to be declared fit for the must-win clash at the London Stadium.
McNeil sustained a knee issue in the 1-1 draw against Fulham, he was selected to start in the 1-0 loss against Southampton last weekend, but the problem has since flared heading into the match on Saturday [9 November].
Sean Dyche could be without three Everton stars for must-win clash
Dyche may as well have his bags packed and ready to go heading to East London should McNeil be forced to miss out on a match that has massive ramifications on the Everton boss’ future.
In all likelihood, the Blues will finally do what feels inevitable should the side return to Goodison Park empty-handed and relieve Dyche of his services [talkSPORT].
McNeil has enjoyed a resurgence on Merseyside this year since moving into the number 10 position, adopting a leadership role within the dressing room and leading the side as the club’s top scorer in the Premier League with three goals.
Furthermore, Ndiaye has become integral to Everton since his summer arrival and previous years show Doucoure’s impact on the pitch, with his tendency to provide goals when his side needs him the most.
Now, Dyche needs all three of his regular starters to play a role at the London Stadium with his future hanging in the balance – he may not lead the club into the new era at Bramley Moore but he can at least see out the current campaign.
However, the Blues have managed just one win on the road this year against Ipswich Town and while they face a West Ham side struggling at home, the hosts are slight favourites heading into this match.
Both sides understand what is on the line at the London Stadium: the victor will earn some valuable breathing room to save their job, and the loser will surely see their tenure reach an abrupt end.
