Putting an end to Anatoly Malykhin’s invincibility, Senegalese wrestler Reug Reug has promised to jealously guard his new title of world heavyweight champion!
From Bangkok, the world shook on Friday evening when Reug Reug defied the odds beating Russian fighter Malykhin to snatch his One Championship heavyweight belt. Oumar Kane thus entered the history of mixed martial arts by becoming the first Senegalese to hold a belt in this division. Anyone who follows in the footsteps of Francis Ngannou (World Champion in PFL) does not intend to stop there.
After his victory obtained at the end of the 5 rounds, the lightning Thiaroye showed himself more determined than ever to enter the legend of mixed martial arts.
“Malykhin is a good guy but I was convinced I was going to win. I knew I was going to become World Champion (…) you have the new generation in front of you and it’s my time now! I’m a wrestler and I knew I could take Malykhin to the ground whenever I wanted. I give thanks to God and I thank all my staff…”
At a press conference, Reug Reug declared that Malykhin was not the toughest opponent of his career. The new champion revealed that his toughest fight was against Brazilian Marcus Almeida Buchecha.
