A rainy-stormy episode is expected near the Mediterranean coast between late Friday afternoon and Saturday morning. In view of the expected accumulations in urbanized areas of the plain and on the coast, in a context of still saturated soils, the situation requires particular monitoring. The most risky period is expected at the end of the night from Friday to Saturday, between 2 and 6 a.m. around the Gulf of Lion, and at the end of the day on Saturday in Haute-Corse. Stay safe and limit your travel.

Evolution
It is from 4 p.m. that the stormy situation becomes active with cells that will move up the coast of the Gulf of Lion. Hérault seems to be the department most at risk of experiencing significant accumulations for the risk period from this Friday evening to Saturday morning, explaining the ORANGE alert level for this department. Thunderstorms will increase throughout the evening and night near the coast before a lull in the continental departments on Saturday morning.
A new burst of possibly strong storms is expected in Haute-Corse late Saturday afternoon.
In total for the episode, cumulative rainfall can reach 80 to 130 mm, locally more than 160. Under the strongest storms, hourly intensities reach 50 to 70 mm/h.
