Whoever has the damage does not have to worry about the ridicule. An old wisdom that is now also being felt by the SPD, the Greens and (current) Chancellor Olaf Scholz. Even Elon Musk makes fun of it.
For years there was a dispute between the SPD, the Greens and the FDP – now the Berlin traffic light, unloved by the majority of Germans, is history. Yellow is out, only red and green remain. Probably by March – but perhaps there will be new elections earlier.
What is certain is that the end of the traffic light not only caused a lot of ridicule online and in the media – for example, the dismissed former Federal Finance Minister Christian Lindner was described as “Germany’s cheekiest unemployed person” – but also a lot of new ones, some of them not very affectionate nicknames for the remaining traffic lights and their staff.
What is left of a traffic light when the yellow light goes out? For this user, the answer is clear: a pedestrian traffic light!
The Bild newspaper describes the SPD and the Greens as the “remaining government” in a much less flattering way, while Focus Online even talks about the “traffic light remnant ramp”. And some have also targeted the head of this “leftover ramp”, Chancellor Olaf Scholz.
Musk: “Olaf is a fool”
For example, multi-billionaire Elon Musk. The Tesla and X boss has been commenting on political events in Germany for months. Now he let the world know on his short message service what he thinks of the (current) head of government: “Olaf is a fool.”
At a press conference on Friday, CSU regional group leader Alexander Dobrindt Scholz also gave a few more. The 54-year-old described him as “Coma Chancellor” and “Glue-Olaf”. The Left Party only speaks of the “CumEx Chancellor” on X. It seems that the tone for the upcoming short election campaign has been set. (phy)
