Mary of Denmark in yellow Manolo Blahnik: a nod to Carrie Bradshaw
Shopaholics will certainly have recognized these yellow silk pumps by Manolo Blahnik that Queen Mary of Denmark is wearing this November 5. The same ones – except for one color – that the sparkling Carrie Bradshaw wears to walk the streets of New York in the 2000s series, Sex and the City. An invigorating pop of color that enhances the elegant combination smoking noire which the sovereign wore for the ceremony of the twenty years of the “Heir Couple Prize”. At her side for the first time in two weeks, her husband King Frederik
A duo appearance to turn the page on rumors
And for good reason! A year ago, almost to the day, the Spanish magazine Readings revealed photos of Queen Margrethe's eldest son in the company of Mexican Genoveva Casanova, in Madrid. It doesn't take much for the rumor of an extramarital affair to spread. Even if the main person concerned denied it almost immediately, the press saw in Queen Mary's recent escapade in Australia a way of escaping this unpleasant memory. Especially since her husband remained in Denmark. In fact, doing well at this price recovery seems a necessity for the royal couple who, over the last two weeks, have been carrying out their obligations…each on their own.
However, no prizes were awarded during the event. “Tonight we say goodbye to the 'Heir Couple Award' and we welcome something new, declared the king and queen on stage. Because it does not stop here for us. We have new titles, but we carry our values with us.” Now renamed the “Royal Couple Prize” following their accession to the throne in early 2024, it will be awarded for the first time in the fall of next year. It will reward “social initiatives, art and culture, as well as the communities that unite us.” Before adding enthusiastically: “We will salute those who captivate us, excite us and move us.”
This award was created twenty years ago by the Bikuben Foundation, in honor of the marriage of Frederik and Mary. Since then, 61 prizes have been awarded in their names. So to properly celebrate this symbolic anniversary, a concert replaced the traditional ceremony. Tina Dickow, Emma Sehested Høeg, Kesi, Zar Paulo and Jada… so many Danish stars who came to provide a fantastic show, reports DR. The King and Queen also took the opportunity to chat with former winners. The show will be broadcast this Saturday, November 9 on DRTV and DR1.
