Deserved the win, but left with a loss

Sometimes, being the better team isn’t enough to secure a win, and today, Real Sociedad’s loss came down to sheer bad luck. Real Sociedad could have won in Pilsen , but an unlucky goal in the 90th minute ultimately saw them fall. This loss intensifies the white-blue’s drive for points as they move forward in the competition.

Real Sociedad started well, creating some danger from the left, but it was the home side that struck first, taking the lead before the 15th minute. Adu scored from close range with a shot past Remiro at the near post. The goal only fueled Real Sociedad’s determination, and they soon leveled. Mikel Oyarzabal sent in a perfect cross from the left, and Óskarsson’s skillful header found the net. Shortly afterward, a brilliant pass from Zubeldia gave Oyarzabal a chance to score a second goal, but a poor first touch held him back. The teams went into halftime with Real Sociedad seeming well-poised to take control in the second half.

The second half opened with a solid chance for Oyarzabal, whose shot was blocked by the home keeper. Viktoria Plzeň, thanks to the ever-present Adu, also tested Remiro a couple of times. In the final fifteen minutes, Real Sociedad pressed hard, pushing the Czech team back into their area, and it looked like they might clinch the win. But, in a late counterattack, a straightforward shot that Remiro could have easily saved took a deflection off Vaselin’s leg, altering its course and leaving the keeper no chance. Minute 90.

This loss disrupts the white-blue’s positive momentum once again. Though the journey has been tough, their performance inspires optimism. We are Real.
