Additional measures were ordered, including an obligation of care and a ban on coming into contact with the victim or approaching her home.
The domestic violence case of which Iris Mittenaere accused her ex-partner had its legal epilogue this Thursday. Bruno Pelat, 22, former companion of Miss France and Miss Universe 2016, was found guilty of violence against the young woman.
The Paris criminal court handed down a sentence of one year's imprisonment, including six months suspended. The firm part of the sentence will be carried out in the form of home detention with electronic monitoring, reports Le Parisien.
Additional measures were ordered, including an obligation of care and a ban on coming into contact with the victim or approaching her home.
The facts judged date back to September 25. Bruno Pelat was accused of having physically attacked Iris Mittenaere, “banging her head against a wall”, uttering insults and threatening to harm her professional career. The former Miss Nord-Pas-de-Calais 2015 is now an influencer and television host.
This is not the first time that the young man has found himself facing justice. He had already been sentenced in June 2022 for “violence and death threats against his father”, then in April 2023 for “violence against another partner”. The prosecutor had highlighted a “recourse to threats and violence which seems to be a habitual recourse in the context of the relationships he maintains with those around him”.
During a previous hearing, Bruno Pelat had mentioned a “problem of impulsivity” and confided “to being afraid of abandonment”. He added: “I don’t know my mother.”
Iris Mittenaere, visibly affected by this experience, appeared “very moved” when she arrived at the court. Her lawyer had obtained the closed session to preserve the privacy of her client, who had not been “psychologically capable” of appearing during a previous summons.
