If the Japanese meteorological agency validates the record, this would be the latest first snow seen in 130 yearsthe start of the measurements dating from 1894. It would also be the first time that they arrived in November since the latest record date until now was October 26 (in 1955 and 2016). It must be said that the summer of 2024 was the hottest ever recorded in Japan.
And in France, when does the first snow arrive? In the mountains, at high altitude, at more than 2,000 meters, they can already make brief appearances at the end of summer, at the end of August-beginning of September, according to Météo-France. En plain, they generally arrive the second half of November. Before, this remained uncommon. Among the earliest episodes: on the night of September 29 to 30, 1764, 15 cm of snow fell on the heights of the Loire and the Rhône.
