American election: Donald Trump elected

Neither Jordan Bardella nor Marine Le Pen had officially supported Donald Trump. In recent months at the National Rally, demonization requires, we have sought to get rid of the sometimes embarrassing image of the former and future president of the United States, although once held up as a model by Marine Le Pen.

“Donald Trump has become negative for us, he gives the impression of agitated populism”even recognized the deputy Jean-Philippe Tanguy, when the party spokesperson Laurent Jacobelli assured that “whether it’s Kamala Harris or whether it’s Donald Trump, we will work with it, it’s wisdom, we don’t want to insult the future”. But this Wednesday morning, members of the far-right party – unlike the left-wing parties or the presidential party – rushed to congratulate Donald Trump, sometimes with great enthusiasm.

“What a lesson for all these bazaar democrats”

“I wish Donald Trump success in his new presidency at the head of the United States. American democracy has been clearly expressed and the Americans have freely chosen the president they have chosen”Marine Le Pen reacted rather soberly on X, the social network owned by Trump ally Elon Musk. Ditto for Jordan Bardella, MEP and president of the party, little in the way of praise. He estimated that “for us, French and Europeans, this American election must sound like a wake-up call. It must be an opportunity to rethink our relationship with power and strategic autonomy. Since Donald Trump invites us to defend ourselves, let's take him at his word”.

However, some members of the National Rally expressed much more enthusiasm. This is the case of the mayor of and vice-president of the RN, Louis Aliot. “After everything he has suffered, the defeat, the hatred, the contempt, the judges, the bullets! He is coming back and winning! What a lesson for all these rubbish democrats. That might not help our interests, but it is a salutary reaction to Injustice!”he reacted. “The USA will defend its interests… we would like the same in for the French!”declared another vice-president of the party, MP Sébastien Chenu.

His colleague Michael Taverne greets “the patriotism, the courage and the remarkable convictions of this overwhelmed, despised man, but who never gave up. Let us hope that the French are inspired!” The mayor of Fréjus, David Rachline, welcomed the fact that Trump “wins against wokism, mass immigration and a hostile media system” and sees in his victory that “of the people over the establishment”.

The enthusiasm was even stronger among Éric Ciotti, ally of the RN, who had openly campaigned for the former real estate magnate. He greeted on “a magnificent victory for the American people against a system”seeing “a path for the right in France as in Europe”. Éric Zemmour, president of Reconquest, also pro-Trump, was delighted that the Americans had done “the choice of civilization against wokism, decline and deconstruction of their identity”.
