QWhat are the first lessons of this extraordinary presidential election, which saw the victory of the “revenant” Donald Trump? We interviewed the Americanologist Serge Jaumain, professor of Contemporary History at ULB.

What to remember from this election night?

First, that the polling institutes were not wrong. Some had thought, or hoped, that when they put their ballot in the box, a certain number of voters would change their minds (in favor of Kamala Harris) in certain states promised to the Republicans; this was not the case. In the Swing States, on the other hand, Donald Trump ultimately won quite quickly and more clearly than expected.
