“The Wollnys” make headlines week after week with their friendly family chaos – but after the last episode there is shocking news.
Every Wednesday evening, numerous viewers tune in to take a look into the living room of Germany’s most famous extended family. Whether Silvia’s house blessing goes wrong or Sarah-Jane and Tinush’s relationship is in crisis – every new (double) episode offers entertainment from A to Z. But after the most recent “The Wollnys” broadcast on October 30th, there is bad news of a different kind for RTLZWEI and the terribly large family.
After Silvia Wollny’s stroke diagnosis – now comes the next bad news
Fans of the extended family are currently particularly concerned about two issues. While Sarah Jane subjects her boyfriend Tinush to a loyalty test by participating in “Temptation Island VIP” together, things are more serious with the head of the family. Silvia Wollny was only recently diagnosed with a stroke. What will happen to her health is still unclear.
And now the Wollnys have to cope with the next shock. One day after the family soap was broadcast on October 30th, there was sad certainty: the popular extended family had to accept a bitter blow in the ratings battle with their show. In the end, there was just a market share of 3.8 percent at prime time. But where does the sudden decline in ratings come from – and what consequences could RTLZWEI draw?
How long will “The Wollnys” continue to run?
Highs of 3.8 percent mean that the Wollnys are flying low into the ratings valley. In the main target group, only 200,000 viewers tuned in to the prominent family’s living room. The low numbers can probably be attributed to the tough competition in prime time: Bayern’s cup game against Mainz was shown on ZDF and “TV Total” on ProSieben and “DSDS” on the main RTL channel also played the ratings killer for “Die Wollnys”.
Now it looks as if RTLZWEI has also reacted to the low ratings: From November 13th it will be “Goodbye, Wollnys” and “Welcome to the Weiß family”. The emigrant family from Berlin lives in Cyprus and takes over the “Wollnys” broadcast slot every Wednesday at 8:15 p.m. It is not yet known whether and when the Wollnys will continue – fans can at least bridge the drought with the extensive archive of episodes on RTL+.
