Residents will finally be able to turn to their insurance… On October 31, the decree recognizing the state of natural disaster for 32 municipalities in the Alpes-Maritimes.
What motivated this decision? “The abnormal intensity of the phenomenon during the event is characterized with regard to the cumulative precipitation or the flow of watercourses which have a return period greater than 10 years.”
Thus, the cities concerned are: Aiglun, Asclos, Aspremont, Auribeau-sur-Siagne, Bar-sur-Loup, Bonson, Le Broc, Carros, Châteauneuf-Grasse, Cipières, Coursegoules, Cuébris, Entraunes, Falicon, La Gaude, Gilette, Gourdon, Grasse, Gréolières, Guillaumes, Mandelieu-la-Napoule, Mouans-Sartoux, Nice, Opio, Pégomas, Peymeinade, Roquestéron, La Roquette-sur-Siagne, Saint-Cézaire-sur-Siagne, Saint-Martin-d’Entraunes, Tourrettes-sur-Loup, Vence.
The Official Journal also indicates that “the state of natural disaster noted by decree may entitle policyholders to coverage against the effects of natural disasters on the property covered by the insurance contracts referred to in the insurance code, when the direct material damage resulting therefrom had the determining cause of the effect of this natural agent and that the usual measures to be taken to prevent this damage could not prevent their occurrence or could not be taken.”
