The leader of the Gueum Sa Bopp movement, Bougane Gueye, spoke to the press this Monday evening to discuss his arrest and also to talk about the political news in the country.
Released from prison a few days ago, the candidate for the early legislative elections of November 17, 2024, returned to his arrest where he brushed aside with one hand the press release from the gendarmerie, which led to his arrest. He even announced a complaint against the Gendarmerie, which he accuses of having applied an illegal political decision against his person.

“On a national road without signposting, as we usually see during each outing, the Minister of the Interior Jean-Baptiste Tine, the head of the gendarmerie, General Martin Faye and the prosecutor of Tamba Aliou Dia, deployed all their energies, on instructions from their leader, to apply an illegal political decision, in violation of the constitution, against my person. They all acted like true Pastef party activists to put me in prison.
The press release sanctioning my arrest is full of untruths and all the videos prove it. I do not exclude, moreover, with my lawyers, filing a complaint against the national gendarmerie” said Gueum leader Sa Bopp.
