In a context marked by the appointment of Michel Barnier to the post of Prime Minister, Ifop-Fiducial for Sud radio questioned the French on the political personality best embodying the left today.
For 45% of French people, Raphaël Glucksmann is seen as the personality who best embodies the left, with more support from socialist and environmentalist sympathizers.
The latter is closely followed by Fabien Roussel (44% consider that he embodies the left) and by François Ruffin (42%), who both bring together more young adults (those under 35).
Among all left-wing sympathizers and/or voters, the leading trio remains the same, however in a different order: François Ruffin comes first (61%) followed by Raphaël Glucksmann (60%) and Fabien Roussel (58% ).
Whether among the French or left-wing sympathizers, the executives of France Insoumise – Manuel Bompard, Jean-Luc Mélenchon and Mathilde Panot – are identified as very poorly embodying the left today in France (for respectively 37%, 53 % and 42% of French people).
Note that for one in two left-wing sympathizers and/or voters (53%), the candidate nominated last summer by the New Popular Front, Lucie Castets, embodies the left today, and this is also the case for a third of French people.
Former President François Hollande, to embody the left, whether for the French (39%) or among left-wing sympathizers and/or voters (47%), is at the same level as Olivier Faure (respectively 37% and 49%). These two figures as well as Bernard Cazeneuve are mainly supported by supporters of the Socialist Party and the presidential majority.
