The message of the former president Traian Băsescu comes in the context where, according to the preliminary results centralized by the Central Electoral Commission (CEC), Maia Sandu won a new mandate at the Presidency of the Republic of Moldova, with the help of the votes received from the Diaspora.
Moldovans abroad voted for Maia Sandu in 82.77%, while her opponent, Alexandr Stoianoglo, was voted by them only in 17.23%, but was preferred by the citizens living in The Republic of Moldova in a fairly large proportion.
“I think that Adrian Năstase, Mircea Geoană, Victor Ponta and the venerable jukeboxes of the Romanian media can console themselves.
Vladimir Putin, with all his aliotman of oligarchs and jukeboxes, also entered the select club of those beaten with the vote of the diaspora carrying a Romanian passport.
At least Putin had the dignity not to say that Maia Sandu stole it”, wrote Traian Băsescu on his Facebook account, on the very day he turns 73.
His message received thousands of likes and several hundred netizens rushed to wish him “Happy Birthday”.
“Happy Birthday Mr. President! Thank you for the Romanian citizenship that we have thanks to you!”, wrote one of his supporters in response to the message sent by the former president of Romania.
