Four people were injured, including two seriously, on Monday November 4, in the RER E at Ozoir-la-Ferrière station (Seine-et-Marne), Agence France-Presse (AFP) learned from police sources. The Paris police prefect and the Seine-et-Marne prefect specified that these four people had been injured by “white weapon”in a joint press release.
Around 8 a.m., in the RER E, a fight broke out involving several people for a reason that has not yet been definitively identified. “Several individuals, perpetrators, entered the train when the train arrived at the station”communicated the police prefects of Paris and Seine-et-Marne. The perpetrators of the violence used several bladed weapons (knife, axe, katana) and baseball bats, according to AFP.
One of the victims had his hand cut off and another had his head cut open with an axe, a police source told AFP. Two others were more lightly injured. The four victims – minors aged 16 and 17 – were attacked on their way to high school. They were transported to hospital for treatment, according to this source, adding that their lives are not in danger.
The main suspect, aged 16, was arrested at his home and placed in police custody, a police source told AFP. An ax was found and seized during the search.
“The facts are probably linked to a fight between gangs and not to drug trafficking, subject to the result of the investigation conducted by the Melun judicial court”specified the two prefectural sources. The investigation, opened for intentional violence in meetings, was entrusted to the Torcy central police station.
“The number of patrols on the RER E line has been increased”also added the prefect of police, responsible for transport security for the entire Ile-de-France region. The fight took place while the train was at the platform, so that “neither RER E nor station traffic is impacted”we underlined at the SNCF.
