In Edinburgh, police seal off an entire neighborhood after the discovery of a “severed head” in the middle of the street

A macabre discovery which forced the police to call for restraint on social networks… This Saturday, November 2 in Edinburgh, Scotland, the police closed an entire neighborhood after a traffic accident involving an double-decker bus and a septuagenarian. The man was hit by the bus in the Cowgate area.

A video is circulating, the police ask not to share it

The case could have stopped there, and been nothing more than a sadly banal traffic accident, but two days after Halloween, speculation quickly took hold and for good reason: a severed head was found near the accident and videos quickly circulated on social networks. We see in particular a group of young disguised revelers walking in the street and a man bending down to pick up what looks like a “head”.

He picks it up, then drops it and steps away from it, in shock. According to the British media, it was the head of the man hit by the bus. Partygoers thought it was a Halloween decoration. After the discovery of this part of the body, the entire neighborhood was cordoned off and the nightclubs closed.

The video showing this macabre discovery was viewed and re-shared by many Internet users, so much so that the police had to launch an appeal for this to stop. “We are aware that videos and images are circulating on social media and are causing distress to the family of the deceased and those who inadvertently view them. We ask the public not to share them out of respect for their family and to report them to the relevant social network to prevent further dissemination.“, said Trish Clark, Chief Inspector.

“There has been a lot of speculation, and I would like to reassure the local community that this is an isolated incident and there is no risk to the general public.”she continued. An investigation is currently underway.
