Faced with our colleagues from Madame FigaroAnaïs Demoustier, mother of two children, spoke about her motherhood and the guilt she felt towards her daughter during his absences. The actress is not as present as she would like for her daughter (born in 2016 from her love affair with Jérémie Elkaïm).
She explains: “A woman who flourishes and invests in her profession is often titillated by guilt. I am no exception to the rule. I'm always afraid of not being there enough for my daughter. However, as I only shoot two films per year on average, I spend a lot of time with her. I was raised by a stay-at-home mom devoted to her four children, and only now do I understand the self-sacrifice that meant to her. Freeing yourself from this model is not easy.“.
I want my daughter to live her life
Returning to her own daughter, she confides: “I want my daughter to live her life, not to be impacted by my pace, because I know how much children need a framework. When I was young, while I really wanted to do this job, I myself was very attached to my routine. I even almost didn't pass the casting for Wolf Timeby Michael Haneke, because of a math homework I didn't want to miss“.

Interviewed by Paris Match, she added that she was totally fascinated by becoming a mother and that she was very admiring of her daughter. “I thought that when we had a child, we completely transformed, we became another person… I understood that we are still ourselves, with our doubts. Giving birth and supporting a growing child provides immense strength. It puts priorities back in place. I am constantly impressed by my daughter. Being around her nourishes me” she revealed. The arrival of a second child undoubtedly only increases this intense feeling that she discovered thanks to motherhood.
