Doctor Strange 2 on TF1: the best scene in the film only lasts 38 seconds, we pause and explain it to you

It's difficult to understand the most fascinating scene in “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” since it passes much too quickly. We took a break, and this is what we understood.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is broadcast this evening at 9:10 p.m. on TF1, the opportunity to discover or rewatch this film from the Marvel universe which introduces the superhero Doctor Strange to a certain America Chavez, capable of creating portals towards the multiverse. Except that a former ally of Doctor Strange is also looking for Chavez to exploit his powers, and nothing will stop her.

The film contains a very striking passage, the one in which Strange and Chavez flee their formidable adversary through a magical portal and visit worlds so quickly that it is difficult to really distinguish the details.

Pause at 37 minutes and 20 seconds for… 38 seconds of multiverse!

It is from this moment that Stephen Strange has America Chavez take a star portal which takes them both into the multiverse. Then begins a journey for the Sorcerer and his apprentice through multiple worlds that passes at lightning speed. And to avoid you having to pause second by second, we took care of it for you, and aided by notes from the creators of this sequencethis is what we can learn from these different universes.

World No. 1

Marvel Studios

These faces are those of the Living Tribunal, a cosmic entity with three faces which is judge, arbiter and guarantor of cosmic balance across realities and the multiverse. A character born in a Doctor Strange adventure published in 1967!

World No. 2

Unidentified. A world of particles connected to a nexus.

A honeycomb world, born from a producer's idea. It is obviously inhabited by giant bees. What else?

An underwater world with no apparent connection to the one where Namor and his people live as shown a few months later in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

An alternative New York in which we can see on a taxi sign “Grindhouse Releasing”, a film restoration firm owned by… Sam Raimi, director of the film.

Marvel Studios

A world of pipes in which some sort of robotic drones bearing the “Stark Industries” brand appear, and which we had already seen in action in Spider-Man: Far From Home, notably in their ability to project images and to represent a real danger.

The skeleton world, with bones the size of giants and skeletons climbing the walls, also made of bones. Very creepy!

We then get a glimpse of Savage Land, an island which in the comics is located in Antarctica. Prehistoric and with a tropical climate, it combines volcanoes and dinosaurs. She first appeared in the X-Men comics in 1965.

A world… of comics! Where Marvel heroes are brought back to their origin, the paper format, and to a very particular aesthetic.

A devastated New York. We can deduce from the green lights and the decor that this could be a universe in which the Avengers failed to save the city during the events of the first Avengers (2012). Maybe also a world where the Avengers were never formed?

World No. 13

The cube world. No, this is not an homage to Minecraft, but apparently there is a world in the multiverse in which everything is divided into pieces. Considering Stephen Strange's face during his brief visit, it doesn't seem very pleasant to live with…

A world controlled by HYDRA. This New York from the turn of the century, with an aesthetic of films on film and sepia, is really reminiscent of the Belle Époque period, with a zeppelin in the background. But on this zeppelin, we can see the logo of HYDRA, an evil organization which seems to dominate the city here. We are therefore probably more during the 1930s, in a world where SHIELD has not won its battle against authoritarianism.

World No. 16

A universe of sometimes inverted pyramids and even a sort of Stonehenge that we can see behind the characters. A world reminiscent of the atmosphere of the Marvel Moon Knight series with Oscar Isaac.

Unidentified. A hellish world of molten lava engulfed in flames. Then our heroes finally arrive in Earth 838, in which the rest of the film continues normally. What a trip! And all this in 38 seconds!
