The local economy is affected by the arrival of thousands of people to the Vendée Globe village, in Les Sables-d'Olonne, until November 10, 2024. If among restaurateurs, this is rather good news, in bars, the effect is quite the opposite.

For two weeks and until the departure on November 10, thousands of people have converged on Sables-d'Olonne to visit the Vendée Globe village. Tourists who also take advantage of this stay to have a good time at the restaurant. On the port or embankment side, the years of Vendée Globe are always good news for the turnover of these brands.

A divided clientele

In the port bars, on the other hand, morale is not high. The managers are used to a large local clientele, especially in the evening. But this is now divided between their counters and that of the ephemeral village bar.

In one sense or the other, the local tourism economy is indeed seeing a “Vendée Globe effect”.
