After a Sprint won by Lando Norris and marked by a McLaren F1 double, it is time to determine the starting grid for Sunday’s race. But a surprise guest is present in Sao Paulo, since the 28 degrees in the air have given way to torrential rains.
The McLaren drivers were the favorites before this change in weather for pole position, but they will obviously have to avoid pitfalls and deal with Ferraris and Mercedes who could also do well.
Max Verstappen is also a candidate for the best time, but the Red Bull driver received a 5-place penalty for an engine change and will therefore not be in pole position, regardless of his qualifying result.
With completely new asphalt, rain could be difficult to deal with, as it often brings out the oil present in the tar. Hopefully the cleaning carried out on the bitumen will have limited this phenomenon.

“Qualifying for the Sao Paulo Grand Prix is postponed.”
“This decision was taken due to the lack of visibility caused by the level of rain we have experienced over the last few hours. There is a lot of standing water on parts of the circuit, making conditions dangerous.”
“While we would all love to see competition on track, the safety of drivers, team members, volunteers, officials and spectators is our top priority.”
“A decision on the start time of qualifying tomorrow morning will be made as soon as possible.”
