After FC Bayern Munich’s perfect three-win week with a total of 12-0 goals, sports director Max Eberl drew an outstanding interim conclusion for the first phase under new coach Vincent Kompany. “Nationally, we have done our job very well up to this point. We are leaders and are through to the cup,” said Eberl after the 3-0 win against Union Berlin in the Football Bundesliga.

Champions League:
Barcelona clearly beats Bayern, Leipzig loses to Liverpool
Bayern had previously won 5-0 in Bochum and 4-0 in the DFB Cup in Mainz. “The main focus is that we get back the championship we lost,” said Eberl after Bayer Leverkusen won the title last season: “We made a statement in the first nine games of the season.”
Just a bad half in Barcelona
They “only played a bad half” in the 4-1 away defeat against FC Barcelona in the Champions League. “There is a lot of focus on that,” said Eberl. «We had already achieved outstanding results before. And we have now won three games in a row to nil in a very stable manner.”
They “didn’t burn any celebrations” against Union, but “played like a top team,” especially in the second half. “Nothing burned,” Eberl rejoiced. Next Wednesday you have to win the home game in the Champions League against Benfica Lisbon. “We have a bit of pressure there,” he said.
