Nothing suggested that the Pau Section would end up falling into its lair. After a first period rather to the advantage of Pau, the Racingmen returned from the locker room completely transformed to offer themselves a precious victory (23-33) on the Hameau lawn. Stuart Lancaster's men, carried by a decisive Tuisova at the best of times, showed all their character.
We should not miss this last match of the first block of the season before a three-week break. Poorly performing away, the Palois were counting on this home meeting to restart the machine against a Racing 92 which has not yet been successful this season. At the end of the 80 minutes of play, however, it was the Ile-de-France residents who brought the chestnuts out of the fire thanks to a second period of quality, where the Palois showed their limits.
In quick succession, Tarrit and Sordoni received yellow cards (10 and 11th minutes), leaving their partners at 13 against a Pau team which monopolized the ball. Picquette's try (11th) validated the good start to the match between green and white. But nevertheless, the Racingmen then applied themselves, even scoring three points through Lancaster who substituted a reduced Owen Farrell for the goal (the Englishman left the pitch around the half-hour mark). In short, on the field, Pau dominated but did not realize two good testing opportunities. Faced with this lack of realism, the locals could still count on the boot of Simmonds who brought the score to 13 to 3 after a nice drop (31st). Lancaster still added three points for his team before the two teams returned to the locker room at the end of a not very intense first period (13/6).
