“Look at the state Loana is in”: Patrick Sebastien denounces the world of television which “kills”

Since October 18, the series Worship on Prime Video revives fans' memories of Loft Storythe show which revealed Loana to the general public in 2001. For the former candidate, revisiting this difficult period of her life is far from trivial. And according to Patrick Sébastien, the consequences of reality on Loana and many others are even the reflection of a television ready to “kill” its stars for the audience.

Since its release, the series Worship, which revisits the behind the scenes of Loft Story, from oars Loana in the spotlight. An emblematic winner of the first season of this pioneering reality TV, she is played in this series by the actress Marie Colomb. Resembling Loana, the actress embodies the icon of the early 2000s with disturbing fidelity, an interpretation which did not leave the former candidate indifferent. Pour Here isshe confided, admitting that the excerpts broadcast from the series had already deeply upset her: “It's weird to me… Seeing someone who looks like you, with your life… I'm not going to say I'm a fan. I cried the first time I saw that. I see myself again, I have images in my head of what I experienced.

Loana admits to remaining shaken by the authenticity with which her life was reconstructed: “I knew it, I was paid for it [des droits d’auteur lui ont notamment été payés, ndlr]but it's a period of your life and all of a sudden, you see an actress and she makes a mess… It's too faithful in fact! You have the same head, you do the same stupid things that you would like to erase.” The shock is all the more acute for her, as she now realizes the extent of the media issues at the time.

Patrick Sébastien denounces the ruthless environment of television

While Loana expresses with emotion the feelings caused by WorshipPatrick Sébastien, wears a more severe look on the devastating consequences that the world of television may have had on the pretty blonde and many others. In an interview with Leisure TVhe explains his indignation towards this merciless environment. The former presenter notably evokes Jacques Martin, emblematic figure of television, and his brutal ousting from the small screen. In his latest book, Patrick Sébastien writes: “The public service leaders did not fire him. They killed him”. A statement which is of some concern and which he subsequently explained in an interview with our colleagues, affirming: “I wrote it because the very evening of the announcement, he had a stroke because of it and died some time later. The word may be strong, but it is a reality. They didn't stab him or shoot him, but the decision they made killed him, indeed.”

This observation, as bitter as it is sincere, goes beyond the simple case of Jacques Martin. For Patrick Sébastien, Loana sadly embodies proof that this industry does not hesitate to destroy its stars : “He's not the only one that TV has killed! There are presenters who have committed suicide, there are people who have fallen from very great heights.” The host continues by taking the example of the winner of Loft Story season 1, which he quotes bluntly: “Look at the state Loana is in today!”. It must be recognized that the reality TV star is the cruel reflection of an industry that would spare nothing and no one.
