Vítor Bruno, coach of FC Porto, does not anticipate a scenario in which Sporting could become weaker with the departure of Rúben Amorim to Manchester United.
The dragons’ coach commented on the likely departure of the Leonine coach in a press conference after the game against Moreirense, for the League Cup, but does not foresee a weakening of the rival and leader of the championship.
“Let’s imagine that Ruben leaves and Sporting becomes even stronger? It’s not worth anticipating scenarios. The people at Sporting are the first to rely on competent people, there are dynamics that are rooted, this stability – as Ruben already mentioned – it’s something a coach dreams of having. Whoever comes, will come to do their best”, he explains.
Vítor Bruno also praised Amorim’s achievements: “Ruben makes his own decisions, he’s an adult and everything he achieved was with merit. I don’t have much to say. The time has come for him to decide.”
Rúben Amorim promised that he will reveal his future this Friday night, after the game with Estrela da Amadora.
Manchester United covered the 10 million euro termination clause in Rúben Amorim’s contract, as Sporting confirmed in a statement, and will have paid a few million more in bonuses required by the Leonine structure.
It seems that Amorim will be able to lead the team until the international break, still being on the bench in the games against Manchester City and SC Braga.
The scenario on the table would lead Amorim to make his debut on the Manchester United bench on November 24th against Ipswich Town, in a game on matchday 12 of the Premier League.
