TRIBUNE – On the eve of the commemoration of the deceased on November 2, the Church must reflect on how to better involve all the faithful in the progress of the Church so that all can contribute more to its missionary vitality.

The feast of All Saints, the day before the commemoration of the deceased on November 2, a day of contemplation and hope for so many grieving families, is the joyful celebration of all the saints, known and less known, but also of the vocation of all the faithful to holiness, reaffirmed almost sixty years ago by the Second Vatican Council. This ” universal vocation to holiness “, is the call addressed to each Christian to live fully from his baptism, through prayer, service, commitment in the Church and missionary witness in words and deeds.

The synod which has just ended in Rome, bringing together for a month around the Pope three hundred and fifty bishops and delegates from all over the world, had no other purpose: it was in fact a question of reflecting on how to better involve all the faithful in the progress of the Church so that all can contribute more to its missionary vitality. The testimony of the most dynamic Churches, which are sometimes also the most tested, such as the Churches of Africa, has been particularly stimulating in reawakening the evangelizing impulse of all.
