The duels between FC Barcelona and Sevilla FC, as usual, bring together so many quality actions, so many details, as well as controversies. There are few times that either of the two teams has finished the event without signaling an action and this Sunday the story will not change much: Balde and Isaac Romero, protagonists of a very striking action.
The first quarter of an hour had not yet arrived and both teams had already shown their cards. Barça decided to dominate the ball, put together very high combinations trying to weaken the white and red defensive system – something they achieved in Peque’s penalty – and Sevilla, for their part, survived and tried to counterattack the local forward defense.
In a red and white outing there was, without a doubt, one of the most controversial actions of the night. Isaac Romero was trying to control a ball and, when he turned, he suffered a very clear stomp from Balde.
The referee had no doubts and called the foul quickly, understanding that Balde had arrived too late, but he did not show a yellow card, to the astonishment of the players present.
Some Sevilla players even hoped that the VAR could warn the referee about the clear stomp, but the situation did not change and led to the game continuing with the left-back without a card.
Sevilla and the protest over Peque’s penalty after Isaac
If the protest over the action between Balde and Isaac Romero was short-lived, that of Sevilla lasted longer when they saw how the referee did not hesitate to award a maximum penalty after an action by Peque with Raphinha.
The players present protested and even Peque reproached the referee that the contact was insufficient to signal the maximum penalty. Minutes later, the cameras captured García Pimienta making gestures about the decision, showing that Sevilla had not liked it at all.
