Kat Kerkhofs can currently be viewed on TV, where she crosses the ocean together with other famous Flemish people for a new program on Play4. Despite her adventurous trip, she says that home is never far away. In an interview with TV Family, Kat spoke candidly about her relationship with footballer Dries Mertens.
Kat and Dries have been a couple for almost twenty years and have a son together, Ciro. Despite Dries’ busy Football career, which took them abroad at a young age, their bond is still as strong. “Dries knows me like no other. We have been together for almost twenty years and are still just as happy. We really make a great tandem, both for each other and for Ciro,” says Kat.
Stronger together, without routine
According to Kat, living abroad has actually strengthened their relationship. “Due to Dries’ football career, we quickly moved abroad, which helped us do a lot together. Our friends sometimes call us Siamese twins because we do so much together. That doesn’t bother us,” she explains.
Kat emphasizes that their love is still growing. “We still feel great together. He is my best friend and as we get older that only grows. Fortunately, thanks to our privileged lives, we do not easily suffer from routine.”
