Football, D1: Haut-Lignon takes on water in Saint-Didier/Saint-Just

Sunday, Haut-Lignon suffered its first defeat in District 1 on the ground of Saint-Didier/Saint-Just (2-0).

The floods did not only have consequences on the areas of Tence and Chambon-sur-Lignon. The hitherto impeccable mechanics of Yannick Reynaud’s men have also stalled. Unrecognizable for 45 minutes, Fabien Jouve’s teammates took to the water against an efficient and liberated Saint-Didier/Saint-Just team.

Quentin Tardieu, back after an adductor injury contracted two weeks ago against Vorey, marked his presence with a goal on a ball stolen from a central defender. Then his brother Bastien got rid of the marking of two opponents and was on the receiving end of a good cross from Matthis Forand. The score could have been higher. One goal was notably disallowed for offside.

In the second half, Haut-Lignon showed a different face and put more foot on the ball. But the ASSDJ, well organized, thwarted any revival of suspense. Haut-Lignon, author of 18 goals in three goals, remained silent this Sunday.

This victory allows the ASSDJ to return to Haut-Lignon at the head of District 1. If Belarmino Fernandes’ men will necessarily be deprived of a promotion at the end of the season, due to failure to meet the conditions in terms of arbitration, they will have a role to play. In any case, this is what they are showing at the start of the season.
