Guest on the show What a time, this Saturday, October 19, Nagui could not contain his emotion while recounting his need to raise public awareness of causes dear to his heart. After discussing his speeches on hunting, which may have been criticized by practitioners of this controversial activity, the host of Taratata explained that he had already received a letter about the prevention he could do regarding sexual violence against children. A touching anecdote giving meaning to this awareness which he considers particularly important.
Explaining that he often happens to “referring to childhood abuse” giving the telephone number, 119, dedicated to minors suffering violence, Nagui recounted this sentence which he repeats whenever the opportunity arises: “Children, if someone touches you, lays a hand on you and you don’t want to, call this phone number.” This sentence finally landed in the ears of a mother and viewer tired of hearing him repeat this prevention, preferring “have fun” looking at him, but who changed his mind the day the message reached its target, who happened to be his granddaughter. A presenter and father who freed his speech
“I was with my daughter, I was watching your show, and the moment you said this sentence again, […] and my daughter said to me: ‘Mom, I need to talk to you, and her uncle had been raping her for several years'”, said Nagui, gripped by this story as horrifying as it was moving. With a heavy heart at this revelation which proved to him that he was right to always remember the importance of speaking out when one is attacked, the TV and radio presenter, also a father, found it difficult to elaborate for long. Moved and on the verge of tears, Mélanie Page’s husband declared, before being applauded for his anecdote: “If I have achieved this, I will continue.”
